Today’s featured photo once again showcases the ongoing installation of the various low speed machinery components for both bridge spans. Next week, crews are expected to begin installation of select high speed machinery components that includes motor base plates, gear boxes, and line shafts; all needing to be hoisted into place with the support of a crane.

With the concrete traffic control gate bases also poured this week, crews will soon also begin installation of the new traffic control gates themselves. Electricians also continue the installation of conduit throughout the west control tower and trunnion pit.

This week’s #BridgingForTheFuture Throwback Thursday photograph is provided from Scott Studio and showcases a view of Port Stanley, looking south toward Lake Erie along Carlow Road, ca. 1935. Visible is: the London and Port Stanley Railway tracks, yard and station; grain elevator on the west side of the inner harbour; and the pre-existing bridge across the inner harbour.
