Today’s #BridgingForTheFuture featured photo showcases some of the original and refurbished east span low speed machinery gears being re-installed this week by Landform Civil Infrastructure crews.

Crews have also installed the electrical conduit and transfer switches for both new standby generators, ready to ensure the bridge continues to function even during power outages!

Next week, crews will complete removing all existing electrical conduit, wiring, etc. The concrete traffic signal bases will be poured, and the east span high speed machinery base plate and gear box is planned to be installed.

The photograph view is looking southwest and includes two tugboats (one with the name Venus) which has run aground, the grain elevator on the west side of the harbour, the pre-existing bridge across the inner harbour (later replaced by the King George VI Lift Bridge), and the London and Port Stanley Railway main Port Stanley terminal.

Chef Lauren vanDixhoorn and her team have created a totally renovated space with an urban vibe and a menu that proves her passion for delicious and local foods. Diners have their choice of the trendy lounge area featuring a gorgeous new bar and relaxing club chairs, the sophisticated dining room or the patio which overlooks the harbour.
