This week marks approximately the halfway point in the rehabilitation of the #KingGeorgeVILiftBridge as we continue #BridgingForTheFuture! Despite its appearance and belief that the bridge rehabilitation project may soon be done, unfortunately there’s still a lot of work yet to complete. As Landform Infrastructure Inc. continues their rehabilitation efforts which includes concrete repairs and structural steel reinforcement upgrades, sandblasting and re-painting of the east span is well underway!
Once bridge painting is completed this fall, Landform will then shift gears and begin replacing all of the bridge’s electrical, control and mechanical systems throughout the winter months and into the new year. The final task to be completed in the spring and in advance of the bridge reopening to the public by May 31, 2021, will involve commissioning of the various systems and final bridge balancing.
Stay tuned for more construction updates coming your way next week!
