Project Status:

Immediately following Council’s approval of the construction contract on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, the project team met with the contractor, Landform Civil Infrastructure Inc. to discuss pre-construction details. During such meeting, it has now been confirmed that the King George VI Lift Bridge is anticipated to be closed on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 to start the rehabilitation work, and is still expected to be completed in May 2021. In advance of construction starting, all required traffic detour and community feature wayward signage will be erected, the contractor’s laydown areas established, and safety perimeter fencing installed.
